Blogging it...

Since this is my first post, I thought it’d only be fitting to comment on the nature of blogging itself.

Firstly, blogging is such a weird word! Seriously though… I know that it stems from the term weblog, but even that sounds stupid. Who keeps a paper log anyways except for beavers? I always kept a diary or, when I decided to give the whole grown-up thing a try, a journal. Wouldn’t they be better called a web diary or web journal? I guess webiarying or bournaling just doesn’t have the same ring.

Secondly, I know that most blogs have some sort of purpose and that mine may not seem apparent, but there is a goal. My goal is to hone in on just one topic at a time. Call it an exercise in focus. My mind tends to be very scatterbrained and all over the place. If I can focus in on a single topic for a little while, I’ll consider it a success. I couldn’t really care less if others read my blog. I’m using the blog format because I like the organization of it and the neatness. I’m too OCD to mar a beautiful journal with scratch-throughs and erasures.

Ironically, I’m not a big reader of blogs. I only read one regularly: http://justice4trevor.blogspot.com/. I guess I should probably work on that, but I’m too busy playing games on Facebook or my phone. I’ve run across a couple others that I like but since I haven’t followed them I can’t remember what they were called or where they are. Any reading recommendations?

  2. The idea of sticking to one topic for a while blog post is kind of terrifying to me!
